Our first Blog

Welcome to Geek-Pixelads.com!

This is our first blog, following the launch of our site at the beginning of February 06'.

Geek Pixel advertising blog

Pixel advertising really hit the headlines in 2005’. Due to a young British entrepreneur Named Alex Tew,
who created the Million Dollar Homepage. His idea was quite simple, to entice advertisers to buy ad space
on his homepage in the form of pixels, using images and/or their logo.

After a relatively short period of time. He managed to completely fill his homepage, also achieving a
Google page rank of 7 in the process (good for him!).

This represents a new form of online advertising, but without the high costs typically associated with other forms
of advertising, such as with pay per click campaigns.

There are numerous sites now appearing on a daily basis. Most of them seem to be modeling themselves on the
Million dollar page, rather than developing new ideas. We hope this trend will change, because how many
million dollar sites can you have?

However we remain quite optimistic that this new form of advertising will continue to develop in coming months,
and hopefully last the test of time too.

For our part then:
We will be optimizing this site to generate as much traffic to it as possible!.
To help ensure that our advertisers get the maximum opportunity of being found by new potential customers!.

What’s search engine optimization?
Th following extract taken from a Wikipedia (the free encyclopedia) article clearly defines this:

Quote'

Search engine optimization (SEO) is a set of methods aimed at improving the ranking of a website in search engine listings. The term also refers to an industry of consultants that carry out optimization projects on behalf of clients' sites.

Using search engines, visitors can find sites in a variety of ways: via paid-for advertisements in the search engine results pages (SERPs), via third parties who are listed in the search engines, or via "organic" listings, i.e. the results the search engines present users. SEO is primarily concerned with improving the visibility of a site in the organic search results.

High rankings in the organic search results can provide targeted traffic for a site. Obtaining that traffic by other means can potentially be expensive. For particularly competitive terms, the cost per click can run several dollars, or more, when pay per click advertising or banner advertising are used. For even moderately competitive terms the cost can range from a few cents to several tens of dollars per visitor. Given those costs, it often makes sense for site owners to optimize their sites for organic search.

Does this kind of advertising really work?
With pixel advertising there’s certainly a good chance, because all advertisers are clearly displayed on the homepage.

The purpose though of any Pixel advertising site is quite simply to drive significant amounts of quality traffic to it’s homepage. So that advertisers have the best possible chance of having their Pixel ad (image and/or logo) clicked by potential customers.

From that point of view then, Pixel advertising certainly does work!.

And finally;
As we’ve only just launched (Feb 06') our website, and therefore in the early stages of selling the advertising space
Why not take advantage of the maximum exposure you will now get in the 'premium zone' by placing your ad there today!

End of first blog....

Bye for now!
